Founded in 2025, Oklahoma Data Exchange (ODX) works with governmental and nonprofit organizations to build human and technical capacity to share, link, and understand critical data across the systems that serve Oklahomans.
Role Overview
Lead and champion the strategic development efforts at Oklahoma Data Exchange, driving all fundraising, resource development, and donor engagement activities. This role demands a visionary leader who excels at strategy, relationship-building, and team leadership to propel Oklahoma Data Exchange’s mission forward and ensure our programs’ growth and sustainability.
Job Purpose
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Director of Development will play a key role in advancing Oklahoma Data Exchange’s mission by crafting and executing robust fundraising strategies and nurturing strong donor relationships. We seek a collaborative and driven individual with a deep understanding of nonprofit development. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Director of Development will oversee high-impact projects, write grants, and manage relationships with major donors and stakeholders. Their role will be pivotal in aligning our development efforts with Oklahoma Data Exchange’s mission and goals.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Director of Development will take on a variety of responsibilities, including:
Strategic Development Management:
- Craft and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy including setting goals and assessing performance in support of Oklahoma Data Exchange’s mission and objectives.
- Spearhead major fundraising campaigns, including annual, major, planned, and special initiatives.
- Cultivate and manage high-level relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners, ensuring exceptional stewardship and engagement.
- Oversee grant writing & management: identifying grant opportunities, writing proposals and grants, collaborating with programming and finance, as well as ensuring compliance and follow-up.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to establish and refine development strategies and goals.
Resource Partner Relationships:
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with current and potential donors, ensuring their engagement and satisfaction.
- Develop strategies for acquiring, retaining, and recognizing donors, enhancing their connection with Oklahoma Data Exchange.
- Act as the primary contact for major donors and partners, offering personalized communication and reporting.
Communications & Outreach:
- Lead the creation of compelling communication materials, including fundraising material, annual reports, newsletters, and promotional content.
- Manage media and public relations efforts to boost Oklahoma Data Exchange’s visibility and reputation.
Administration & Data Management:
- Ensure accurate and timely entry and maintenance of donor information in our CRM system.
- Analyze fundraising performance and provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Prepare detailed development reports, including financial and impact assessments.
Additional Information
This role reports directly to the Executive Director and will closely collaborate with the Board of Directors and external consultants for strategic guidance and support. This role will also guide the Executive Director on the development and use of the Board of Directors towards the fulfillment of Oklahoma Data Exchange’s objectives
Working Conditions:
Standard work week with occasional evenings and weekends required for events and meetings. Primarily remote work or at a work-share location with occasional travel for meetings.

Qualifications
- 5+ years experience working in nonprofit development role.
- Specific experience with NPO Development & Communication
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nonprofit related field or equivalent with specialized vocational-technical or nonprofit training preferred.
- Commitment to and alignment with the mission of Oklahoma Data Exchange.
- Proficiency in the use of a computer, including Word and Excel is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft365, databases, CRMs, and other digital platforms is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Sitting or standing for long periods of time as well as some moderate lifting up to 50 pounds.
